In the fifth grade, students focus on a variety of academic skills, such as public speaking, creative and report writing, evaluating and solving mathematical expressions and equations, employing graphing, diagramming skills and other problem solving techniques, explore the beginnings of American history and discover the world of biological science.
Fifth graders are also given the opportunity to enhance their individual abilities, gifts and talents to communicate and express their ideas through group work, individual oral presentations, and group presentations utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint.
Most importantly, students develop leadership skills through the values and virtues that they learn and live through the mission and teaching philosophy here at St. Mary's.
